Nature based science project ideas are a great way to get out and enjoy the environment. Most outdoor science project ideas don't require much just you and some cheap items. Here is a great science project idea that you may want to try:
For this project all you will need is flower pots, some potting soil, some dirt, and a few seeds. You can even use plastic or Styrofoam cups if you don't have flower pots. The point of this project is to see which variables do what to plants.
Begin by filling half of your pots with topsoil, and the other half with dirt. Make sure to plant a seed of the same type plant into each of the potters. Take two plants away and mark these as your control plants. These two control plants will receive a normal amount of darkness and light.
Put two plants into an area where they will get little to no light, and put the rest into an area where they will have light 24/7. Monitor your flower pots for two to four weeks. Take notes and list the details of what you see going on with the control plants, the plants in the light, and the plants in the dark.
You can also add into the equation more plants, such as ones that receive the same exact amount of light and water as the control but also get some plant food as well, or perhaps ones that also get there leaves sprayed with water, or talked to on a daily basis.
As you can see this is one of the easier science project ideas that you can do, but it is very important that you keep good notes on the daily conditions of each plant. You should see big differences between them all.
